Reimagining Waste as Art: Insights from Our Interview with Proverbial
At 12 Brass Street, we had the pleasure of talking with Proverbial, a climate change activist, innovative environmentalist and the founder of an environmental NGO called Lead Heart Initiative. He shared his inspiring journey to being a founder and his opinion on transforming waste into functional, eye-catching pieces.
For Proverbial, saving the planet is an art. He believes that art turns recycling into beauty, therefore, the role of art and sustainability cannot be overemphasized . “Environment happens to all of us regardless of our profession and race,” he shared. “..and that’s where contributing our own effort to make the environment better comes to play.”
Through this conversation, we explored the world of sustainable art beyond the usual boundaries. He is of the opinion that we’ve only borrowed the planet from the generation that is to come, so we have every responsibility to protect it. In the words of Dr Seuss “It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become”, that random nylon or paper can quickly become a valuable art if you make it. So if you've ever wanted to bring a unique touch to your space, we say make the artwork.
Here at 12 Brass Street, we believe that creating something beautiful while reducing waste is within reach for anyone, whether it’s turning a plastic bottle into a unique planter or transforming old fabrics into artistic home accents. Together, we can paint a future where every step towards sustainability is a stroke of genius. Let us build a world where art and conservation walk hand in hand.
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”
